Producing Excellence-LA

Planning and Production in Commercial Food & Beauty Photography

This workshop is packed full of hands-on learning.

This in-person workshop dives into how to bid on a commercial photography project, work with a team, and see how it all comes together on set.

The Details of the Day

The morning will begin with an overview of the creative briefs.

You will self-select which brief you want to bid on: food/still life/beverage or beauty/fashion which you will need to select when purchasing your ticket.

We will break out into smaller groups to work on putting together an estimate for what it would cost to execute the creative brief. The smaller groups will come back together and present their bid to a panel consisting of a producer, art director, and artist rep.

At lunch, you will hear from the artistic team such as the food stylist (Laura Kinsey Dolph), prop stylist, hair and makeup artist, and wardrobe stylist. You will learn when to get them involved, and how they can contribute to the work through their insights.

After lunch, we head to the photography portion of the day. This is where the creative brief comes to life. There will be a lead photographer walking you through their process, along with their team. For the Fashion/Beauty set, photographer Nathalie Gordon will lead us through her process. And for the Food/Beverage set, photographer Jennifer Chong, will show us how she brings the subjects to life with her team.

After the shoot, we will celebrate the day with a happy hour, for everyone to mix, mingle and of course debrief about the day.

The workshop will run from 8:45am - 6pm
