Podcast FAQs

  • The interview will take about an hour. Each episode varies in length but on average they run for about 35-40 minutes after editing. 

    We ask that our guests set aside an hour so that there is time to check all the technical aspects such as sound and connection.  This provides us ample time to conduct the interview without having to rush.

  • We love hearing how guests found their way into creative work and what kept them going once they got there. Come ready to talk about the early years, the people who shaped you, the experiences that surprised you, and the work you are most proud of. We will move through your story naturally and may dig into specific moments or approaches that feel worth exploring together.

    We typically close each conversation with this question: "What do you know now that you wish you had known when you began?"

    There are no wrong answers here. The most memorable episodes are almost always the ones where guests show up ready to be honest rather than impressive.

  • The primary objective of the podcast is to share the paths other women have walked so others can relate, connect and find inspiration.

  • The first full episode launched in March 2020. FOW now has about +250 recorded episodes and we have 1200+ subscribers on our email list. The podcast has an average of 120 downloads per week and it continues to grow!

  • A little setup goes a long way. Here is what we recommend before we hit record:

    Find a quiet space with a strong, stable internet connection.

    If you have headphones and an external microphone, please use them. They make a real difference in audio quality and will help your voice come through clearly for listeners.

    We record all of our conversations for use on the podcast and across Focus on Women platforms, including audio, video, and social media. By joining us, you are giving us permission to use the recording in those ways. If you have any questions about this ahead of your episode, just reach out and we are happy to talk it through.description

  • The Wider Lens features creatives and leaders having honest conversations about growth, change, and building work that actually fits your life.

  • We have found that recording the podcast via Zoom helps to facilitate a better conversation. However, only the audio portion is recorded and used for the final podcast.

    If possible, find a place with carpeting and soft pillows to eliminate echoes. Plug-in headphones are preferred over Bluetooth or your computer mic, to avoid background noise but use what you have.

  • Yes. After the recording, it goes to an editor to add music, edit sound, and then it is published about a month later and made available for listening on Spotify, iTunes and other Podcast players. You can subscribe to the Podcast to be notified when a new episode drops.

  • Simply put, yes.  Focus on Women is more than a podcast. FOW is a growing community of women leaders and also features in-person events, virtual meetups, education, mentorship and more. The newsletter list has been steadily growing with each conversation and new connection. 

    FOW founders; Traci Terrick of Poppy Creative, Juliette Wolf Robin, Executive Director of the APA and Mary Dail, Founder of Big Leo Productions, are all involved in content and event planning as well as share through their individual networks.  There is also a board of volunteer advisors who head up different initiatives. 

    Our Instagram feed is also a place where we push out content and share about the episodes.

    In order to grow the listenership, we push the new episode announcements out via all networks and channels (Instagram, Newsletters, Linkedin), and of course, ask that our guests share on their feeds as well.  For social media please tag @focusonwomen_org on IG and @Focus On Women on LinkedIn.
